SLJ Week 1 / Task 6

Today's summer learning journey task we needed to create an Optical Illusion, The DLO showing above was create by me and my partner(Aisea) from LS1. I really enjoyed doing this activity  because it was fun and cool to do. I created this by using the drawing tools and making it really cool to see.  I really liked working with my partner as we find different types of illusions and deiced to pick an illusion we should create by using the drawing tools.

SLJ Week one / Activity 6

 L.I: To translate words from English to Te Reo Moari. 

  

The DLO showing above is a task that was created by my group(Densyn and Mayson). This is the second task for today. We needed to translate these words from Maori into English. We also worked really well to complete this task. We also needed to listen to the videos that will help us understand what to do and so we can get this task done and dusted.

L.I To create a kowahiwahi pattern to represent summer

Today I learnt when it is very hot and the air is shimmering Tanerire preforms the haka for his mother, Hine-Raumati, This happens in summer as the land heats up. Our Challenge was to think about this while we designed our own kowhaiwhai pattern that represents summer.   I found this activity really fun as I worked with my Partner Densyn from 5 to help me understand what to do for this task and what we could draw that will make our DLO represent summer.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 4

LI: To create a piece of insect art.                     


Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images. I found it quite hard to put these leaves and other different of leaves together to make an insect. I enjoyed doing this as I liked making an Dragon Fly and I really enjoyed put these colours together like white and yellow.  To make the task more interesting we needed to write 3 cool and fun facts about your insects here are some of my facts. 

Here a three interesting facts about an Dragon Fly:

1. Dragon Flies don't usually sting people or bite. 

2. They have been around for 300 million years.

3. Groups of Dragonflies are called Swarms. 



SLJ Week 1 Activity 3

L.I : To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.

My comic strip shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip. I found this challenge really funny as I tried to make this task funny as well. I worked with my partner Densyn from room 5 . I also helped them by working together and understanding what to do.

Leaving an positive high quality comment helps the blogger understand what she/he can change on their next blog post. I think his blog post was really amazing to read as it hooked me into reading what his blog post is about. I also gave him feedback so he can understand what to do on his next summer learning journey task.

This morning we started off by doing the summer learning journey task with the year 7’s and 8’s.They helped us by understanding what to do. My partner from LS2 was Liletina and she helped me understand what to do. I really found it fun and interesting to work with her. I think I found this task really interesting to do as I learned new things with Nanogirl. If you dont know who nanogirl is she is one amazing girl thats going to helps us with the Summer Learning Journey and to understand what to do. She also explain whats to do and what the task is about. .

Christmas Board Game

L.I To create an Board game and playing it with our younger students.                                                                                 




This is my Christmas Board I created. I created this by making a table of 10 and making it a fun and interesting game to play with our younger students. This game is just like snakes and leaders but instead of putting snakes I created Grinch and Santa. This Board game was about trying to from the start to the finish line first. We used an online dice that can help us move forward and get to the other side. This game is all about having fun and trying to get to the finish line first. Here are some of the rules to find out how to play:

How to help santa get from North Island to North Pole:
 
First role the dice to see how many steps you can take. Roll Dice 

Seconed whatever number your dice rolles take that amount of steps as example if it rolls a two then take two steps forward. 

If you land on a box that has a ladder you can go throught it(Shotcut). 

If you land on a grinch you have to take 5 steps back. 

If you land on a Santa you can take 5 steps forward.

This Week our year 7's who participated in saying our speech to be a leader. Today afternoon was the day we needed to read out speech. As I stood up in front of our audience I had the confidence to say my speech. As I was reading my speech I tried to get my teachers and audience hooked to make them vote me as their sport leaders for 2021.

Operation Christmas Drop

L.I To write a summary of the story behind the Operation Christmas Drop in your own words.


                                                                                                        
This week for research  we learn about the operation Christmas drop. For the last 68 years the men and women of the US air force who are based at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam have been using a pilot training drill to drop much needed supplies to the people who live on the 60 remote islands that surround Guam. 

Operation Christmas Drop allows the people living in these remote islands to sustain a better life and the communities to flourish.
I think this is a great way to help others and make a difference in peoples lives. These people are really grateful and happy.

Design Technology Challenge / Christmas Decorations

LI: To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.


For this term, The LS2 students designed and created Holiday Decorations using Hand Sewing . We created a DLO(Brainstorm) and a (Mood Board) with the information that can help us understand what we are going to make. Brainstorming the information helped us learn more about How,Why,What,Shape and Who. The Materials and equipment we used were Threads,felt,Cotton,String,Buttons,googly eyes and Paper. We needed to make sure that our decorations were 10cm big, so we started off by getting a ruler and measuring the length and the width. For my first decoration I decided to create a Dolphin. We used paper and a drawing pencil to help us create our first design. But firstly I needed to learn the type of sewing we’re doing. We learned three different types of hand sewing which is Blanket Stitch,Outline Stitch and a Running Stitch by learning how to use the different types of stitching we practised onto a 10cm square(made out of felt). After practising more and more we decided to create our decoration by creating our decoration we planned about. I really enjoyed working with others and working together to create the design. After completing my first design I decided to create a another one which was a Santa's Stocking I think I’ve improved a lot in my stitching.


 LI: To decorate the office tree.

After completing all our sewing , We deiced to go to the Panmure Bridge School office and  deiced to decorate the  Christmas tree.  We decorated the Christmas by putting our Hand Sewing decorations onto the tree. I really liked putting my sewing onto the decorations. I put my name on my decoration so visitors or guest knows I created that.

L.I: To write a pourquoi (tell me why or how) story that paints a picture in the mind of the reader.



This Week , For our writing task we created a DLO(An Animated Movie) about the story we wrote last week. My animated movie was about How Tiger got his stripes? for this task I worked with RJ. We started off by drawing the main characters,Main Ideas and the background(Sun.Trees,Beach and Grass. We drew these by looking threw images on google and getting some ideas on how we can make out animated movie. 

After completing my DLO I showed My DLO to Rm 4 and 2, I was really happy and proud of myself that I had the confident to show my work.

The Art I decided to pick was  the woman combing her hair.  I decided by making the colours really colourful as my art project can look like it's real. This art design was created by Goyo Hashiguchi, She created this art design in japan, She created it on the March of the 20th and completed it in February. I really enjoyed doing this project as I made my art design look really colorful with bright colours. This Project also showed the elements of art.This art makes me feel happy as the colourful colours are bright and makes 



Last Week, this is one of the art activities called Step it up, This task was about writing a description about the art design you, My description I wrote about my desgin is about who created that desgin,What did I do, What colours I used, and How I feel about the design I created. I think I really liked and enjoyed making a description about the art design I created and the colours I used. 









Tech Refection for 2020


Tech Blogpost 2020: 



This year has been one of roughest year as we got into lockdown and things about as Covid-19 hit. On weekdays every friday the year 7’s and year 8’s students at Panmure Bridge School goes to tech, At tech we have 3 rotations, The year 7’s rotations went from Mrs Fregson,Mrs Heka and Mrs Sharma, Mrs Fregoson is all about doing robots and moving them around as playing with coding, Mrs Heka is all about making food and trying them out, lastly Mrs Sharma is all about having fun in science.  I think tech this year was the best as it was our first year doing tech, I really enjoyed finding out new things every friday with them. I think tech really helped me with learning different facts. 


What we did today?


Today at tamaki college was the last week at tech we grabbed 10 leaves for the activity.we had to try to get the colour,texture,thickness,pattern  and the size of the leaves . we had to find out how the plants eat,how plants grow,why animals need plants.than we wrote down what kind of leaves people eat for example cabbage,red cabbage,lettuce,seaweed,kale,spinach.

Then we watched a video about plants and how they spread water through the plant.

 My DLO is about representing the school at an outside function. This is for my Gold Attitude Badge Award. The Sport my DLO is showcasing is After School  Basketball. I have talked about what we enjoy playing after school basketball and what the different skills we learn in after school Basketball.  I have also put images of us playing agents other school.  


Art Colouring Book

L.I: To experiment with colours.


 



For this week's art lesson, LS2 and Room 5 learned about experimenting with colours. We learned by using a website called the Art Colouring Book. One of the arts that I decided to pick and play around with was the Moon Masque. This art design was created by Adolf Born. I really enjoy playing around with images and picking different colours that I think will suit with this image. We started off by playing the task called Kick Start. Kick Start is one of the tasks to help us understand what to do and to have some fun.

Te Whanau Raukura Performance

                                                                               

                                                                                      

This week monday the Te Whanau Raukura preformed different type of performances to help us understand the meanings behind Taiaha, Poi and Te Rakau and to also understand the elements of the Maori Culture. Te Whanau Raukura is a group of people who preformed dances at the Auckland Museum to help kids and adults understand the meanings of the Moari Culture as well. What I really find interesting is that While your swinging a poi you can grab another two to make 4 poi's swinging in the same time. Bekah(One of the dancers) came upstairs to help us play a game called Pukana, I really also found it interesting that while playing Pukana you can try and trick them to get them out.

Exploring our national current events

During reading we also talked about Current News in New Zealand. In groups of 4-5 we explored our current news in NZ using different News Websites like - RNZ (Radio NZ), Newshub, NZ Herald, Kiwi Kids News and more. Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make desicions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. Here are the reasons of each news we placed on our Google Maps.

Should masks be complusoray on Nz Public Transport.

 LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.


My DLO above shows that masks should be compulsory in Nz Public Transport and why. My DLO is also about understanding why wear masks are compulsory in Nz Public Transports and why not?. This DLO was Collaborated with Liletina and Ellenora. I have learned alot by knowing why and no we should make masks compulsory on NZ public transport.

Weight Challenge 1

 LI: To create a DLO to explain how we solved the problem. 

This week for maths we were learning measurments. In this subject we were talking about weight. The unit for measurement for weight are - grams, kilograms, tonnes etc. In groups we solved 3 problem challenges. For these challenges we wrote down answers in on pieces of paper. After we solved these challenges we created a DLO explaining our strategy and how we got our answer. For our strategy we used Place Value and a calculator because the numbers were too big for us to solve. In my group was Fau, Hosea, Jayden, Leroy and Diana.  

Poem/ Main Ideas

L.I To find out the main idea .

My DLO is about the Main Ideas in the Poem called Embeaarsent. I worked with Makaili,Hosea,Afa and  Rj. We needed to read the book twice to help us understand what the book is about.  I also needed to find out the main details that will help others and yourself understand what the main Idea is . Working with my buddies was really fun and enjoyable because we shared our ideas by working together to understand the book and the main idea.

Tech / Rocket Ships

 L.I : Is to learn about rocket ships and find out how many fins does the rocket ship need. 

                                                                                       

This week for tech, The year 7s Worked with Mrs Sharma and Mr Dunn. Mr Dunn showed us by explaining and understanding How many fins does the rocket need to fly ( No Fins , 2 Fins or 4 Fins). For my prediction. I think my rocket needs 4 fins to fly into the sky. We also started off by getting straws and making it into rocket ships. We created it by turning the front tip and bending it. After bending it, we needed to grab some scalar tape  and put it onto the straw.  We then started off by writing keywords that link to rocket science. We also learned interesting facts and information about rockets. The most interesting fact I learned was that there is a New Zealand Rocket company called Rocket Lab and learning about who works with them. Thanks again to Mr Dunn for helping and understanding more  on Rocket sciences.

TIIC will help us with knowing how to write and TIIC explanation.  This helps us with our test, This was a practicse round so that we know and understand what its our about and how we can write a TIIC paragraph.

Learning and understanding fractions

 To learn how to group and split in fractions



This week is our last session with Mr Fisi’iahi for this term as it was last week. For this week my group and I worked on fractions and played a game called Play tower of hanoi. We also used Multi Link cubes to help us understand fractions and to help us solve the questions. I really enjoyed playing with my partner solving fraction questions. We also played a game called Dicy numbers which got us into parnters. This game was really fun and competitive as we had to see who was the first one to win.  Understanding fractions helps us understand the groups,twice and the double. Double means twice as example 6+6=2 or 6 x 2=12.

Dare to make a choice,

LI: To create an DLO about making wise choices. .

This week was our last day doing the DARE program. We had 3 different tasks. The first one was to sort out all the different drugs good or bad into 3 different columns of illegal drugs, legal drugs and drugs that we are unsure of, then sort them out from most harmful and harmful drugs. The second task was to learn about the 3 classes of drugs including class A being the highest and B and then C the penalties that come with being caught with the drugs, the last tasks was to create our own penalties with 6 different scenarios that we were given. We all learned new interesting facts as example Did you know that chocolate was a type of drug also Coffee. I also really enjoyed working with Juel because we shared our ideas to complete this task. We also needed to find images that links to our DLO to help us make it more interesting to read. We also collaborated and talked about what we're gonna write on our DLO and to hook the readers into reading what our DLO and Blog post is about and How to make a Wise choices. Just remember "The only person that's important in your world is yourself"

Tech: Science with Mrs Sharma

This week for tech the year 7s at Panmure Bridge School  learned about the different types of plastics. We also learned about Plastic, material, wood, paper and metal which helps us understand more about  plastics. We also played an activity that will give us more information on plastic. The activity we played was about looking around the class and trying to look for the different materials that we could see. The most interesting fact that I learnt was that every year 17 billion rubbish gets thrown away in the ocean.

Kiwisport / Dancing

 This week, The year 7s and year 8’s had Kiwisport, This term Panmure Bridge school is doing Dance for this term. We are working with Rebecca, Rebecca is our dance teacher. This week our theme is about getting into rydem and making the same beat at the same time.  I enjoyed making beats with my hands,feet and other body parts. I also really enjoyed dancing to one of my favorite songs, Say So by Doja cat . Moving around with my friends and dancing to the music was really funny and fun to do. 


Statistics with Mr Fisi'iahi

 Today my group members and I worked with Mr Fisi’iahi, He taught us about statistics and gathering data. We then gathered all the data and turned it into a graph. We also learned about the different types of  graphs and which is the best type of graph we should use to represent the data. Mr Fisi’iahi helped us understand the meanings as an example we learned what pre-teens  means, Pre teens means 12 and under which means teens means 13 and above. We also used a data card to help us understand more on what our learning is about. The data card involves all the information we need to know.

This week for our Te Reo Challenge, I created a DLO that talks about my family tree DLO that shows my family members' names. I used Maori words that could help us understand  more about my  family tree. The family tree includes our siblings, parents, grandparents and great grandparents and also it has designs I traced and created. The most interesting fact I learned well making this DLO was that another word for Family Tree is Whakapapa.

This DLO is about me, This DLO can help you understand some things you may know or may not know about me. The  Dare program helps us and inform us with things that can kill us and helps us make wise choices.  What I really enjoyed was writing down My goals for this year. One of my goals is to  get 1000 blog posts by the end of the year. I also enjoyed writing down things I enjoy doing and what my favourite food.

Biology

L.I To look for evidence in the data/an image and infer what might be happening

This DLO is about Observation and Science. Science is  empirical which means it is based on. I worked with Lily,Afatia and Sakshi. We all worked together and shared our ideas on this DLO. We looked for images  that links to the information on our DLO to help the readers understand what our DLO is about. We completed  our task by working together,Sharing our ideas,  Helping  each other to get this task done.  I also really enjoyed working and giving my ideas on what I should do to get this task done and completed. I also really enjoyed talking to my group members to explain What is Science?. 

Sunflowers

L.I To recreate the Vincent Van gogh Sunflowers. 

 

Today Skashi,Afatia,Lily and I were recreating the style of Vincent Van Gogh sunflower painting. First we watched a video and practiced it on a piece of paper to learn about the dabbing and twisting effect on the sunflowers. When we were ready we made the horizon line across the final paper  and painted it dark as compared to the top.  We then started mixing colours with proportions for the vase which were copper and white to paint the vase. We then started using the same effects for the sunflowers we did for practice.  The practice helped us improve our painting and we were very happy that we could work as a team. 




                                                                                          







Maths with Mr Fisi'iahi

 L.I: To solve and create algebraic equation.




Today my group and I  learnt Algebra with Mr Fisi’iahi. We started off by finding out the values of the animals. The animals we did were Piwaiwaka,Gecko,Kiwi,Tuatara and Pukeko. We summed up an answer then we  simplified the answers to make it easier to understand and explain what's happening. We created a DLO with our algebraic equations but we had to make the question unbalanced so that Mr Fisiah could make it balanced, we had to create for Mr Fisiah . I really enjoyed working with my partner and my group to answer the questions we’re trying to solve.These tasks and questions help us understand and explain what Algebra is.  We also learned how to balance the animals on a log or plan to make it equal and even.

For this week, the year 7's went to science with Mrs Sharma. We learnt about What is sciences and different words that connects to science. One of words I wrote down was Light. We also learned about the 3 main topics of Science which is Physics,Chemistry and Biology. The question I wanted to find out was why is the 3 main topics of science called Biology,Physics and Chemistry. We also had to answer three questions which was What do you know about Scientist? What do you think sciences do and Would you be a scientist? I really enjoyed working with my team mates and sharing our Ideas on What is Science?.

This week all the students in Panmure Bridge School got given two books from Duffy.   I just want to say a big thank you to Duffy for giving me two 2 amazing books called Guts and The magic of Maths . This books will inspire me with my reading skills.   I am really exited to take these books home and read them . One of the books are called Guts, the book is about Raina, Raina is one of the characters in the book, She woke up in the middle of the night having a really bad stomach with her mum. One of the things I am looking forward to read is about what will happen if she goes school.

Today Lily,Afatia,Skashi and I worked together to complete this task for reading and writing. We used our searching skills and our opinions to create an timeline on Vincent Van Gogh. We used a website called Padlet which help us create the summary of his life. We first worked as a team  by searching  for interesting facts and information about Vincent Van Gogh and wrote it on a piece of paper. We then looked for websites that could help understand more about him. Once we have found the information we added it onto the time line and used images to help the readers understand more.  We learned a lot about his personal life and his career. After completing this task the most interesting fact that I learned was that he cut the lobe of his ear for his girlfriend.

This DLO talks about how to stay safe from a flood. Here are three simple steps that can help you stay safe from a flood. I really enjoyed doing this task because it was really easy to recreate cars,houses and water. This DLO can help you and others know what to do if a Flood happens. The most interesting thing I learned was to go to the highest point.

This video was created by Lily,Skashi,Afatia and I, We made a video telling other parents how to find the  class blog. We worked together by sharing our ideas,making a plan and collaborating together. This video helps us and others learn more on cybersmart and what people are achieving.  We can find out what kids are achieving by reading their blog posts.  This can also help you with finding the learning they need to do in lockdown. It can also help you with knowing what your kids/Siblings have done over the past few weeks.

Flood Information

  L.I: To make a DLO about information for when there is a flood.

I made this slide show with my buddy and in this slide show it tells you what to do when there is a flood. A flood is when one whole destination gets covered up with water. In a flood you can swim or drive somewhere safe but you should never walk in the flood and the reason why you should never walk in a flood is because if the flood has fast moving water it can knock you over and it can cause injuries, you could drown or it could lead you to death. This DLO was made to keep people safe and healthy.

This is my DLO, My DLO talks about an a amazing person called Mary Anning, In my DLO I talked about Who she is,What she did,When she died,When she was born and more information about her, I also wrote 3 interesting facts about her that you may not know about her, The most interesting fact  I learned was that she created a book called Jurassic Coast Fossils, I really enjoyed making this DLO because I get to learn new information about her. I also used searching skills and looked for websites,videos. I really enjoyed reading the information on the websites and watching the videos.

Scientist Research: Biology(Jane Goodall )

 L.I To create an DLO about an Scientist Biology from the past.                                                          


I created a DLO for one of the task we are doing this week, I decide to do Jane Goodall, I picked her because she's trying her best to help others see what chimpanzees can do. I used my searching skills to find the information and facts from websites that you may not know about her.  The most interesting fact I learned was that Jane Goodall was introduced to chimpanzees when she was a little baby.  In my DLO I explained Who she is,What she did, Where she was born? and other interesting information about Jane Goodall.  I picked her because I didn't know who she was and what she did to make us happy until I created this DLO. I have learned a lot of new facts and information about her and really liked reading the information on other websites.    


 

Scientist Research: Chemistry


L.I To create an DLO about an Scientist Chemistry from the past.


For this task I and my buddy worked together to get this task done. I really liked sharing my ideas and telling my buddy what I know about Marie Curie. We wrote interesting facts and wrote information about Marie Curie. We explained who she is, The most interesting fact I learned was She has won the Nobel prize in chemistry in 1911.
