Tech Refection

 L.I : To learn how to build cars,airplane and more toys.



This Week for tech the year 8 students went to Mr Grundy, We first started off by learning the rules , introductions on knowing how to build machines. We also talked in groups to help us understand more on what our learning is and what we're doing in tech. Mr Grundy has also introduced us by looking at some of his awesome toys . He also helped us by understanding what to do and what we needed to learn about. I really enjoyed working with my Mr Grundy and my other team mates in my group.We also needed to draw 8 ideas that will help us create our toy made out of wood.

Mihi

L.I : To introduce myself using a Mihi Whakatau.
                                            

For this Te Reo Maori Challenge we needed to create an Slide and draw images and then create an video. This Slide was really fun and enjoying to do as my readers gets to learn more about myself. I created this drawings by using the drawing tools using Crvey Line.

Why do we use TEEL paragraphs?

 LI: To understand how TEEL paragraphs can help us structure our information and ideas in a paragraphs?


We use paragraphs in our writing to expand on an idea. In LS2 we use the TEEL acronym (title, elaborate, evidence and link) to help us structure our thinking. The example on my DLO shows what Topic Sentence means , Elabortate,Evidence and Linking how and why I found this task really fun and enjoying to do as I learned new things and understood what to do.  I also wrote in my DLO what TEEL means and what it does to help us understand writing paragraphs.

Kawa of Care

 L.I To understand the Kawa or Care to keep our laptops safe.

                                                                                          





The three DLO's above show our understanding and knowledge of the kawa of care. For two of the DLO's we needed put the correct words into correct sentences to make sense.  On the first DLO we needed to insert a photo of ourselves. I found it helpful to know the correct way the carry our chromebooks to protect them.

The slide above is about being Cyber smart. Cyber smart is a subject that helps you understand how to stay safe on social media, technology and other things. I created this slide with my group to help us understand our keyboards(Shortcuts). We went looking through this site Keyboard Shortcuts to help us make sure we found the correct answers.

Leadership



Our task was about defining what a team is, leadership, role model, and responsibility. This was done in a group. Next we wrote down what we think a leader is and then write a paragraph that uses 25 words. We then copied it on to a google drawing so we can explain our words and paragraphs.

Why is it important to be Hydrated ?

    L.I To understand why staying hydrated is important for our health and for our learning. 

                                     

 The DLO showing above was created by my group.My group created this DLO by finding different type of  information and facts about being Hydrated and Dehydrated. My group created this by sharing our ideas and working collaboratively . As example Hydrated mean drinking heaps of water which helps you stay focused.  Being dehydrated means feeling dizzy, having headaches and not focused. Did you know that drinking a lot of Water helps your body and also helps you stay healthy. We also found images that connects to the text so that it could also help  yourself and others what we’re talking about and to understand more about what we’re learning in our Inquiry task. 

 

Favorited Video Game

 L.I To plan and carry out a statistical investigation.                                                                                        





Today LS2 worked together in partners to analyse one of four topics. In this maths session we chose four questions for people to answer (what is your favorite colour, etc), and we recorded those 

answers on a piece of paper. Second we chose one question out of the four and used that for our graph. We used the data from the paper and created a pie chart on google sheets. We then created a summary of the data we had recorded.

Summary of Te Tiriti O Waitangi

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text is about.                                                                                     

   

 Our class reading task was to learn about the events of Te Tiri O Waitangi. Each group read an article to understand what Te Tiriti o Waitangi is about and the different events that took place during Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We completed two reading comprehension tasks to learn more about Te Tiriti o Waitangi.


After reading the Te Tiriti o Waitangi article, our reading group rolled a question dice (which decides whether we will ask a why, what, who, when, where or how question). Our group wrote four questions in total. The questions we asked were ‘Why didn’t the Pakeha stay honest to the treaty?’, ‘Who was at fault for the conflict between the Maori and the Pakeha?’, ‘What gave the Maori the courage to speak up and stand for their rights?’ and ‘Where in NZ did Pakeha take most of the land from the Maori?’.


Once we thought of and wrote down the questions on a piece of paper, we moved on to writing a summary using keywords from the Te Tiriti o Waitangi article. First of all, our group skimmed through the article to find 20 important keywords. Then, we eliminated some keywords and choose the 6 most important words from the first 20 words. Using those 6 words, we created a paragraph summary that included information about all of the events that happened in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.


Our summary included information about the signing of the treaty and what the treaty declared. It also included details about how the Pakeha betrayed the Maori and started a conflict between the two parties.


I enjoyed this task becuase I get to learn diffrent facts and information about Te-Tiriti O Waitangi.
